Fujitsu Delivers Integration Between Microsoft Systems Management Server and Fujitsu SystemWalker System and Network Management Suite

Tokyo, September 27, 1999 -- Fujitsu Limited today announced the immediate availability of SystemWalker for Systems Management Server. This exciting product, developed by Fujitsu Limited, will provide an open system management software solution for mission critical systems throughout the world. SystemWalker for Systems Management Server is comprised of a series of tools and enhancements that are based upon Microsoft Systems Management Server SDK 2.0. The toolkit consists of bridge tools for resource distribution capabilities, console capabilities, and event forwarding capability.

Microsoft Systems Management Server provides centralized scalable management of Windows based desktops and servers. Utilizing Systems Management Server SDK 2.0, SystemWalker for Systems Management Server provides "jobs" which execute Systems Management Server's software distribution functions and are invoked under control of SystemWalker's Job Management subsystem provided as SystemWalker/ OperationMGR. This brings the following benefits to Systems Management Server customers:

• Operation automation
• Remote control capability
• Scheduling capability enhancement
• Reliability enhancement
• Interoperability enhancement
• Operation from web browser
• Triggering operation by events.

In addition to the integration enabled by SystemWalker for Systems Management Server, as a management platform, SystemWalker can integrate Systems Management Server event monitoring and operation environment into its management environment. Customers can configure their systems as Systems Management Server to monitor Windows-based workgroup and SystemWalker to monitor enterprise network by forwarding events detected by Systems Management Server to SystemWalker. Customers can define Systems Management Server applications to be invoked from SystemWalker console. Systems Management Server functions can be associated with each node in SystemWalker network topology map and invoked based on operation context for further management operation.

Price and Availability

SystemWalker for Systems Management Server is now available directly from Fujitsu Limited in Japan and through Fujitsu Subsidiaries across the world. In the US, SystemWalker for Systems Management Server is available from Fujitsu Software Corporation, for an expected price of about $198.
