Japanese Release | ![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 1999-0046 |
Tokyo, March 1, 1999 --- Fujitsu Limited, Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM) and The Performance Measurement Group (PMG) today announced an agreement to jointly assist Japanese technology and other companies to achieve best-in-class supply-chain operation performance. The collaborative effort will draw on PRTM's fact-driven consulting methodology, which has been successfully applied in thousands of engagements in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and Fujitsu's strong systems integration capabilities and wide array of IT offerings. The new benchmarking and consulting services for the Japanese market will be available from the 2nd quarter of 1999. Fujitsu and PRTM/PMG Announce Supply-Chain Benchmarking and Consulting Collaboration in Japan
-- Partnership to offer industry-standard benchmarking and SCM consulting services for Japan's technology-based customers --
PMG's benchmarking study has indicated that most companies have the potential to decrease their supply-chain costs by between 4% and 7% of revenues. This could account for as much as half the profits for many companies, and in the case of a $1 billion company, the resulting cash flow savings could be as great as $40 to $70 million. The study has also revealed that the best-in-class companies have a supply chain that is twice as fast as their median-class competitors. It is not surprising, therefore, that leading companies are increasingly focusing their attention on this critical business process as a means of increasing company value and competitiveness.
The combination of PRTM's 23 years of experience in implementing best practices, PMG's industry-standard benchmarking services and Fujitsu's experience in applying information technology, offers Japanese customers the assurance that they will receive a thorough analysis and best-practice implementation in compliance with the Supply Chain Operations Reference- model (SCOR) (*1). The companies will leverage their respective areas of expertise to provide optimal SCM solutions that enable customers to achieve stronger supply-chain performance as measured by improved service, reduced costs, optimized assets and higher process quality. And of course, they will ensure the same level of strict confidentiality for participants' data that has been maintained in all of PRTM/PMG's prior benchmarking studies conducted over the past decade.
(*1) Note: The Supply Chain Operations Reference-model (SCOR) is the industry-standard supply-chain management framework promoted by the Supply-Chain Council (SCC), which was formed in 1996 by PRTM and Advanced Manufacturing Research (AMR).
