Fujitsu's New Systemwalker v10.1 Integrated Operations Management
Software Greatly Reduces Costs While Enhancing System Stability

Tokyo, October 17, 2002 -- Fujitsu Limited today announced the domestic release of Systemwalker v10.1, comprising three new offerings in its state-of-the-art suite of integrated operations management software. Incorporating the latest technologies for handling web services and virtual networks, the new products (System Network Topology Manager, System Network Assist and System Desktop Patrol) make it easy to enhance operational stability of large-scale systems and offer a drastic reduction in system management costs. Concurrent with the release of the new v10.1 products, Fujitsu has upgraded 20 existing offerings in its Systemwalker lineup, which are available worldwide.

Systemwalker v10.1 is designed to handle virtualization technology, such as virtual LAN, enabling users to manage the relationship between physical and logical network topologies (*1). In addition, when system trouble occurs, Systemwalker doesn't just alert users to the problem. It is able to control and optimize overall system resources, reducing required management processes by up to 75%.

Moreover, for corporate or departmental systems consisting of dozens of PCs, it offers a desktop management solution that performs such functions as software distribution, licensing administration, and remote operation, all for approximately half the price of previous products.

Through the use of systems that employ such features as web services, in recent years corporations have become increasing interlinked in a network of B2B transactions. In addition, with advances in dense system architecture and virtualization technology, corporations are deploying systems of ever-increasing scale and complexity that are comprised of components from a wide variety of vendors. To maintain stable operating environments and support end-user service levels, sophisticated operations management software with leading-edge technology and massive administrative process capability is required. Systemwalker v10.1 is just such a solution.

In order to provide solutions that promote the stable operation of multi-vendor systems for our customers, Fujitsu is working with a variety of industry partners to promote product compatibility. Fujitsu plans to expand the number of partner products that are "Systemwalker enabled" (*2), from 69 products from 16 companies at present to100 products from 30 companies by the end of the current fiscal year.
