Fujitsu Introduces New MB90455 Series of 16-bit Microcontrollers
Mounted in ultra-compact 48-pin LQFPs
Tokyo, June 18, 2002 - Fujitsu Limited today announced the introduction of its MB90455 Series of 16-bit F2MC-16LX microcontrollers. The 12 models in this series will become available beginning today.
Today, there is an increasing demand for compact and high performance 16-bit microcontrollers for use as embedded sub-controllers in user interface control systems, such as multi-function remote controls.
Fujitsu's new series uses a very compact 48-pin LQFP*1 (7 x 7 x 1.5 mm, with a 0.5 mm lead pitch), which allows for the creation of compact remote controls and other controlling devices as well as high-density circuit-board mounting.
Operating at a maximum clock speed of 16 MHz (62.5 nanoseconds instruction cycle), these chips also offer high-speed system processing capability.
The new series has the following noteworthy features:
- Compact 48-pin LQFP packaging (7 x 7 x 1.5 mm, with a 0.5 mm lead pitch)
For the miniaturization of remote controls and other controlling devices as well as high-density circuit-board mounting.
- Fast 16 MHz clock speed (62.5 ns instruction cycle)
For high-speed system processing.
- Operating voltage guaranteed across a wide 3.5-5.5V range
Helps ensure system operation reliability from voltage fluctuations caused by momentary voltage dips.
- Ample onboard memory
Includes 24, 32 or 64 KB of both flash memory and mask ROM, and 2 KB of RAM, allowing customers to select the capacity needed to run their programs.
- Uses Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter for onboard flash memory
Allows for rewritable programs, making software development more efficient and faster.
- Supports multiple power-saving modes
In addition to regular microprocessor operating functions, the chips support Sleep Mode, Stop Mode, CPU Intermittent Mode, and Downclock Mode.
Through efforts to reduce footprint requirements, part counts, and board design complexity, Fujitsu will continue to develop its line of microcontrollers that employ compact packaging for use in digital appliances, audio-visual equipment and PC peripherals.
