Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER regains its crown
in SAP SD two-tier benchmark
Tokyo, February 19, 2002 -- Fujitsu Limited announced today that it has
regained the top performing position in the SAP® Sales & Distribution
(SAP SD) two-tier Standard Application benchmark using a Solaris/SPARC-
based PRIMEPOWER 2000 server and Oracle9i Database. The 128-processor-
based server and software configuration achieved a score of 7,800 SAP
SD benchmark users. This was almost twice the score of the second-
placed competitor and puts PRIMEPOWER and Oracle back in the No. 1
spot, a position previously held from February 2000 to September 2001.
The SAP SD Standard Application benchmark performed on January 18, 2002,
by Fujitsu in Numazu, Japan, was certified on January 24, 2002, with the
following data:

This new SAP benchmark record was achieved using a combination of the
latest Fujitsu 675MHz SPARC®64 GP processors, PRIMEPOWER's ability to
scale beyond competitive open system servers, the powerful and reliable
Solaris operating environment, and Oracle, the world's leading database.

This latest SAP 2 tier SD benchmark performance win by Fujitsu was also

venture between Fujitsu and Siemens in Europe, contributed to the result.
The engineers at Fujitsu's Numazu factory prepared the test equipment;
while a combination of system experts, including specialists from the
Fujitsu Siemens SAP competence center in Germany set up and ran the
benchmark.
