Cable & Wireless IDC and Fujitsu Agree to Sales and Marketing Collaboration

Tokyo, December 18, 2001--- Cable & Wireless IDC Inc. , Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu System Solutions Ltd. (Fsol) today announced a joint sales and marketing agreement, whereby they will seek to leverage their respective strengths to provide Japan-based customers with various broadband Internet solutions.

Under this collaboration, Cable & Wireless IDC, Fujitsu and Fsol will complement and enhance their respective broadband Internet service offerings by using each other's leading-edge solutions, including Cable and Wireless IDC's global IP backbone network infrastructure and voice/data/Internet services and Fujitsu's and Fsol's wide-ranging Internet solutions including consulting, application development, Internet-integrated solutions (WebSERVE)^*1 and application outsourcing services (AplSERVE)^*2.

Based on the sales and marketing agreement, Cable & Wireless IDC has adopted Fujitsu's "Storage Utility Service" for its "Managed Storage," and is planning to offer it to customers from January 2002 as part of the "Web hosting services" hosted at its award winning state-of-the-art data center. With this storage service, Cable & Wireless IDC's customers can take advantage of highly reliable large-capacity storage based on Fujitsu's operational technology without having to make major capital investments.

In addition, customers can realize an extensible, flexible hosting environment through Cable & Wireless IDC's "Managed Hosting Solution" and "Colocation" offerings and its newly launched optical fiber broadband network for metropolitan areas called "Customer Access Network."
Expanding content volume brought about by the enhancement of broadband technologies and the expansion of Internet business is accelerating market demand for efficient storage services. Cable & Wireless IDC, Fujitsu and Fsol offer ideal solutions to customers' requirements for safe and efficient data storage and give them new hosting value and convenience.

Based on this collaboration agreement, Cable & Wireless IDC, Fujitsu and Fsol are planning to develop a global partnership in the future.
