Fujitsu Establishes Fujitsu (Xi'an) System Engineering to Strengthen Software Development Capability in China
|
Tokyo and Xi'an, October 31, 2001--- Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu (China) Co. Ltd. today announced that they have established a new company called Fujitsu (Xi'an) System Engineering Co., Ltd. (FXS) in Xi'an, China, to serve as a center for software development.
Located in the western part of China, Xi'an has been one of the key cities in the Chinese government's plans to promote development in the western region. In addition to a rapidly expanding infrastructure, Xi'an's numerous universities and secondary educational institutions produce a large and highly talented labor pool.
Capitalizing on Xi'an's excellent human resources, FXS will initially focus on developing application software under contract for Japanese corporate customers. The operation will use a factory style approach to development, with design and production phases separated. Fujitsu will introduce Enterprise Java Beans (EJB)* as a key technology for development work. To promote reuse of solutions and improve productivity in knowledge-oriented systems development, such as web-based project management, Fujitsu recently made EJB its uniform application infrastructure, and the company has begun standardization and product development efforts.
Fujitsu already is involved in a joint venture in the Beijing area, Beijing Fujitsu Systems (BFS), which serves as a center for business application development, carrying out software development for the Japan market. With the establishment of FXS, Fujitsu will leverage the abundant talent in Xi'an to further strengthen its development capabilities.
