Fujitsu Limited has been granted the world's first J2EE(*2) brand certificate for Linux platform application software. J2EE is a Java-based server application platform standards specification. On March 21, 2001, Fujitsu's INTERSTAGE Application Server for Linux platform received J2EE brand certificate. Linux distribution employed Turbolinux Server 6.1.
J2EE certification brand, guarantees greater portability of diverse applications and application components running on INTERSTAGE Application Server. For example, applications developed on other application servers can be easily migrated to run on INTERSTAGE Application Server. J2EE brand certification is granted to products that pass compatibility tests consisting of more than 5,000 items specified by J2EE standard.
As a participant in Java standards initiatives like the EJB(*3) of JCP(*4), Fujitsu has been actively involved in shaping Java specifications. Since the introduction of INTERSTAGE Application Server with EJB functionality in 1999, Fujitsu has been providing products compliant with the latest industry specifications.
Fujitsu will continue its active participation in the Java community and provide not only platform software such as application server, but also advanced solutions through collaborative efforts with partners.

- "Java2 Enterprise Edition" is a components architecture and a set of rules to apply for a multi-tiered Java application propounded by Sun Microsystems, Inc. and is also a standard specification for Java component development.

- "Enterprise JavaBeans" is a platform specification for development and execution of Java based applications. It is standard for EJB to provide services such as transaction processing and session management required for a server application development. It is also its characteristic to support development of applications using application components.

- "Java Community Process" is a community process where Java's specifications are decided and altered. Fujitsu is a member of this community.
