Tokyo, July 28, 1998 --- Fujitsu Limited today announced that it will market in Japan two models in the popular LifeBook series of notebook PCs that its American subsidiary Fujitsu PC Corporation (FPC) has been selling principally in the U.S. The LifeBook models now being introduced for the Japanese market are intended to meet the needs of people living in Japan who desire an English-language computing environment, such as foreign business people and students.

The models being marketed in Japan from today and available as of the end of the month are:

Both models come loaded with Microsoft's new Windows 98 and feature a regular US101-type keyboard. They also comply with UL/FCC requirements as well as applicable Japanese standards and thus can be used freely in both countries.

In addition, to provide convenient, trouble-free support for the new products, Fujitsu has set up a special English-language toll-free telephone inquiry line and dedicated maintenance service depots in 13 locations in Japan. Customers who use LifeBooks purchased in Japan when traveling to the U.S. can take advantage of FPC's technical customer support system. Likewise, users who have purchased LifeBook PCs from FPC in the U.S. can utilize the support and maintenance system now established in Japan.* In the future, Fujitsu intends to expand the U.S-Japan mutual support capability into a global system that includes Europe and Asia.
