Fujitsu Adds New Entry Models to Its Intel Server Series

Tokyo, November 27, 1997 - Fujitsu Limited today announces an enhancement of its teamserver range with the introduction of four new entry level models. The new models now support one or two Pentium II processors and have been redesigned within a smaller footprint than previous dual processor systems. Despite the small footprint, they have been carefully constructed to offer disk and slot capacity ideal for file/print and departmental systems markets.
The new single CPU model, the teamserver C260i, is powered by one Pentium II 233MHz processor and comes with a 4.3GB hard disk standard. The C270i model delivers 266Mhz Pentium II power and also has a 4.3GB disk as standard.
The new dual capable Pentium II models are the C761i (with 1 or 2 233MHz Pentium II processors) and the C771i (featuring 1 or 2 266MHz Pentium II CPUs). All models come in the same cabinet and support disk array configurations.
Mr. Kazuto Kojima, board member and group president of the marketing group at Fujitsu, said: "The introduction of the new entry level systems provides greater range and flexibility for customers who use Intel-based servers. Our ability to build the new systems in the same cabinet as well as offering excellent levels of flexibility means we can pass on better price/performance to our customers."
"In addition, the new models deliver more options to our partners and country operations in Asia and the Pacific. In this region in particular, we are building new levels of hardware and software support, plus consultant services to help develop our server sales," he said.
The new entry level systems can support over 200GB of disk by use of peripheral cabinets and can drive the maximum memory possible with Intel Pentium II processors.
This brings the number of models in the Fujitsu Intel based teamserver range to eight.
These products will be marketed in the Asia/Pacific region and sold in Japan as GRANPOWER 5000 series.
