The Honorable Benjamin J. Cayetano, Governor of the State of Hawaii, issued a proclamation to Fujitsu Limited Chairman Takuma Yamamoto. The Governor's statement declared that "JAIMS has emerged as a leader in intercultural management education, contributing significantly to the human and economic development of the Asia-Pacific regions."
To congratulate Chairman Yamamoto and the JAIMS Board of Trustees on the occasion of JAIMS' 25th anniversary, Governor Cayetano declared June 1 through June 7, 1997 to be:

The awards were presented to Mr. Yamamoto as leader of the Board of Trustees of JAIMS on the 25th Anniversary of the institute's foundation. JAIMS was founded in 1972 by Fujitsu as the Japan-America Institute of Management Science. JAIMS' mission was to educate and train individuals in management science methods and practices of Japan and the United States. That mission has broadened in scope by preparing business managers to assume positions of leadership in an increasingly interdependent global economy.
For 25 years, JAIMS has been bridging different cultures and business practices of the United States and Japan, and most recently China, for current and future business people. Over 14,000 participants from over 40 countries have graduated from a JAIMS program or seminar.

Speakers at the forum include Dr. Nancy Alder of McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Mr Robert Lees, Secretary General of the Pacific Basin Economic Council and Dr. Shigeru Miyagawa, Kochi Prefecture-John Majiro Professor of Japanese Language and Culture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The JAIMS 25th Anniversary Seminar focuses on electronic commerce and the latest IT tools and business strategies used in the U.S. will be held in Honolulu July 16 through the 22nd. Seminars scheduled later this year will focus on multimedia, Internet & intranets, groupware, network computing, end user development, object oriented software and intelligent agents.
