JAIMS and Fujitsu honored by Government Leaders in Hawaii

- Governor of Hawaii, Mayor of Honolulu recognize 25 year contribution to global business & understanding -

Honolulu, Hawaii, June 4, 1997 - In separate ceremonies held in Honolulu, JAIMS and Fujitsu were honored by the State and Local Governments of Hawaii. The awards were given to JAIMS and Fujitsu in recognition of a quarter century of outstanding contribution to Hawaiian business and international education.

The Honorable Benjamin J. Cayetano, Governor of the State of Hawaii, issued a proclamation to Fujitsu Limited Chairman Takuma Yamamoto. The Governor's statement declared that "JAIMS has emerged as a leader in intercultural management education, contributing significantly to the human and economic development of the Asia-Pacific regions."

To congratulate Chairman Yamamoto and the JAIMS Board of Trustees on the occasion of JAIMS' 25th anniversary, Governor Cayetano declared June 1 through June 7, 1997 to be:

The Honorable Jeremy Harris, Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, issued a proclamation to JAIMS and Chairman Yamamoto "to acknowledge the contributions of this fine organization has made toward furthering international trade and management science in the greater Pacific Region."

Mayor Harris declared June 4, 1997 to be:

The awards were presented to Mr. Yamamoto as leader of the Board of Trustees of JAIMS on the 25th Anniversary of the institute's foundation. JAIMS was founded in 1972 by Fujitsu as the Japan-America Institute of Management Science. JAIMS' mission was to educate and train individuals in management science methods and practices of Japan and the United States. That mission has broadened in scope by preparing business managers to assume positions of leadership in an increasingly interdependent global economy.

For 25 years, JAIMS has been bridging different cultures and business practices of the United States and Japan, and most recently China, for current and future business people. Over 14,000 participants from over 40 countries have graduated from a JAIMS program or seminar.
