Fujitsu's Move Keeps It in North Raleigh

Company Signs with Daniel Corp. to Construct New Building

RALEIGH, NC, July 7, 1997 - Fujitsu Network Communications today announced it will move into a new building in North Raleigh by fall 1998, pending city approvals. FNC's new home, which is being built, managed and leased by Daniel Corp., will remain within the North Raleigh area between Six Forks and Wake Forest roads, on St. Albans Drive.

FNC is a part of Fujitsu Limited, a $36 billion global technology leader in computers, communications and microelectronics. The Raleigh facility houses broadband switch engineering and business operations. Established in Raleigh in 1987 as Fujitsu Network Switching, the subsidiary joined Fujitsu Network Transmission Systems, based in Richardson, Texas, in 1996 to form Fujitsu Network Communications. The combination enables FNC to meet customer demands for a quick-response, single source for integrated switching and transmission technology.

The FNC Raleigh facility currently employs 240 persons in two buildings, the Somerset Park office, 4403 Bland Road, and an office in the SouthTrust Building, 4505 Falls of the Neuse Road. FNC expects to acquire 100,000 square feet of office space in the new building. Architectural designs and facility features are currently being determined. Pending city approvals, construction could begin in fall 1997.

FNC officials and employees are pleased that the company will maintain its presence in North Raleigh. FNC plans to continue its support of the local community, as it has done for many years.

"We are delighted to continue our relationship with the North Raleigh community," said Hisao Kanzaki, executive vice president. "We have established relationships with the educational community, the business community and many other worthwhile organizations during our years in North Raleigh. We want the citizens of this area to consider us a part of their community for many years to come."

"The consolidation of two office buildings will make our work environment more efficient and effective," said Rebecca Horn, vice president of business management. "Staying in the same community is certainly an added bonus. We are excited about the anticipated move and look forward to the new work atmosphere."

Daniel Corp., established in 1964, is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, with a regional office in Tampa, Florida, and a newly-opened regional office in Raleigh. The corporation has had a presence in Raleigh since 1984, owning and operating 330,000 square feet of office space in the area.

"We look forward to working with Fujitsu as we develop new office space for the company," said Andy Andrews, senior vice president, Mid-Atlantic region, of Daniel Corp. "Fujitsu and Daniel Corp. have done business together since 1986 and we enjoy an excellent working relationship that we hope to continue for many years to come."
