- Exel and Fujitsu Announce Agreement in Principle for Exel to Acquire Fujitsu Logistics Ltd (Fujitsu Limited - Tokyo, Japan)
Exel, the UK-based, world leader in supply chain management

principle for Exel to acquire Fujitsu's wholly owned subsidiary company,

- Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 4010 Access Device Awarded "RUS Technical Acceptance"
& "Buy American" Status (Fujitsu Network Communications -

Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., a leading supplier of IT
and networking solutions, announced that the Rural Utilities Service (RUS)
branch of the United States Department of Agriculture has granted "RUS
Technical Acceptance" and "Buy American" status upon the Fujitsu FLASHWAVE
4010 remote SONET access device. By conferring this status upon the FLASHWAVE
4010 device, the capital expenditure required by rural service providers to build next-
generation optical access networks has been significantly reduced. The small size, low
cost and operational simplicity of the FLASHWAVE 4010 device enables carriers to
easily extend optically delivered HiCap (DS1 or DS3) services to more customers at a
lower initial capital and operational cost than they ever could in the past, and still
receive all the benefits of SONET.

Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. announced the development
of a new communications chipset that uses Indium Phosphide-based high-electron
mobility transistor (InP-HEMT) technology to enable 50-Gbps operation of a 4:1
multiplexer and 1:4 demultiplexer chipset. Fujitsu's newly developed chipset is the
world's first to achieve superior signal quality and operating margins in full-rate
clocking scheme, with breakthrough low-power consumption of less than 1 watt
(70% lower than conventional technology).
