Fujitsu Microelectronics, Inc. Gresham Plant to Cease Operations (Fujitsu Limited - Gresham, US)
Fujitsu Limited announced its decision to cease production operations at its Gresham, Oregon semiconductor manufacturing facility, Fujitsu Microelectronics, Inc (FMI), by the end of January 2002, and to close the plant and liquidate its assets. The closure reflects the continuing slump in the worldwide semiconductor market, as well as Fujitsu's intent to consolidate production of flash memory at Fujitsu-AMD Semiconductor Limited (FASL), its joint-venture manufacturing facility in Aizu-Wakamatsu, Japan. > more

Fujitsu Softek To Improve Data Migration Services With HP For Storage Customers Worldwide (Fujitsu Software Technology Corp. - Sunnyvale, US)
Fujitsu Softek announced that its Softek TDMF Open Systems and Mainframe Edition data replication and migration software will be used to assist Hewlett-Packard Company customers in migrating their business-critical data -- outage-free -- onto new HP storage systems. npower awards telecoms outsourcing contract to ICL (ICL - London, UK)
ICL announced a contract to provide outsourced IT and billing services for npower communications, the telecoms arm of npower. The contract, which is for the supply of managed services to support the company's IT infrastructure, and for the provision of billing services, is effective immediately. As part of the agreement, ICL has also sourced the SUN servers, ORACLE database software, and network infrastructure to support the required service. > more
