COGNOS AND FUJITSU ANNOUNCE GLOBAL STRATEGIC ALLIANCETokyo and Burlington, MA, February 12, 2003 -- Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX:CSN), the world leader in business intelligence (BI) and performance management, and Fujitsu Limited, a leading provider of customer-focused IT and communications solutions for the global marketplace, today announced a strategic alliance encompassing cooperative product development, sales, and support. As a first step, Cognos PowerPlay, a key component of Cognos Series 7, and Fujitsu Limited's Symfoware Navigator will be tightly integrated and initially targeted at existing and new enterprise customers in Japan. Cognos Series 7 is the industry's most comprehensive, enterprise-class BI solution, offering mission-critical performance, reliability, and scalability, as well as unique operational event detection and alerting to wireless devices. Its integration with Symfoware Navigator, a leading information building and delivery tool for multidimensional output from a relational database and a flexible, scalable 64-bit OLAP software, provides enterprise customers with the ability to build applications, which present large volumes of data to users for analysis and exploration in a scalable and usable fashion.
