Fujitsu Begins Sales of Bluetooth-Integrated Pocket LOOX
Palm-size PDA in Japan Market
Tokyo, July 16, 2002 -- Fujitsu Limited today announced that it has commenced sales of its Pocket LOOX palm-sized personal digital
assistant (PDA) in the Japanese market, with general availability
from August 2, 2002 (*1). The sleek, 175g Pocket LOOX has built-in BluetoothTM wireless communications capability, enabling on-the-go Internet access via Bluetooth-equipped PDC or PHS mobile phones.Moreover, when linked to personal computers equipped with a Bluetooth USB adaptor (*2), it can be used in the office or at home for wireless data exchange, checking e-mail, surfing the Web and various other
business and entertainment purposes.
Featuring a 400 MHz Intel® PXA250 Application Processor and running
on Microsoft® Pocket PC 2002 Software, including Pocket Outlook,
Pocket Word and Pocket Excel, Fujitsu's Pocket LOOX offers excellent
performance, convenience and usability. It comes bundled with a wide
array of software ideally suited to active mobile users, from
electronic maps and train transfer guides to tools that enable
Internet-based search, communication, personal information management,
and entertainment access any time and anywhere.
In addition to its appeal for individual consumers, Pocket LOOX adds
another dimension to Fujitsu's mobility solutions for corporate
customers, combining the portability of a wireless phone with the
functionality of a laptop computer. For example, when integrated with
location positioning technology and customer information systems,
Pocket LOOX can be used to optimize dispatching of route sales and
maintenance people, thereby contributing to increased efficiency and
customer satisfaction. Salespeople using Pocket LOOX when out of the
office or on sales calls at customers' premises can quickly collect
information and write up orders, helping them to avoid missed
opportunities and capitalize on sales opportunities. Moreover,
on-the-go groupware applications and e-mail functionality make
information sharing possible any time and anywhere, helping to speed
decision making.
