Tokyo, April 3, 2001---
Fujitsu Limited today announced record results in industry-leading benchmarks on its PRIMEPOWERR 2000 SPARCR-compliant, SolarisR-compatible servers. PRIMEPOWER 2000 now holds the distinction of being the world's most powerful transaction processing system.
PRIMEPOWER 2000 took first place in the TPC-C benchmark as the best value among large enterprise servers, performing 222,772 transactions per minute (tpmC) @ 50.34$/tpmC (as of April 3, 2001). The results of the Transaction Processing Performance Council show that a single, PRIMEPOWER 2000, with 48 563-MHz SPARC64-GP processors, is #1 in verified transaction processing performance for non-clustered systems. The results of this benchmark, using less than 40 percent of the possible 128 processors, demonstrate PRIMEPOWER's extraordinary performance potential. There are now three Fujitsu Solaris-based servers on the TPC-C Non-clustered Top Ten list.
PRIMEPOWER 2000 also holds top spot in the SAP R/3 three-tier SD (Sales and Distribution) User Benchmark, with a world record of 23,000 concurrent users, confirming Fujitsu's leading position in providing business-critical computing solutions. The benchmark on the PRIMEPOWER 2000, the first performed using the most current SAP release, illustrates the extreme performance capability that PRIMEPOWER delivers.
PRIMEPOWER has prime position in the SAP R/3 two-tier SD User Benchmark with 3,000 concurrent users. The SAP benchmark is used to measure scalability, stability, and flexibility, standards used in data centers all over the world.
In addition, PRIMEPOWER recently set new Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) performance records. In the SPEC integer 2000 (SPECint2000) benchmark, PRIMEPOWER has the highest 1-CPU result of any SPARC compliant processor available in a server. PRIMEPOWER also set a new standard for 16-way servers measured by the SPECint_rate2000 benchmark(Comparisons as of April 3rd 2001).
"Any system can win the occasional benchmark, but winning the CPU, ERP, and OLTP races simultaneously can only be achieved through excellent overall design," said Jonathan Eunice, principal analyst and IT advisor, Illuminata, Inc. "The latest SPEC, SAP, and TPC results show that PRIMEPOWER brings serious Big Iron technology to bear. These combined with Fujitsu's data center credentials and global reach, make it a force to be reckoned with."
"PRIMEPOWER is designed for the most demanding processing environments in the world and our goal is to meet the twin requirements of top-end power and commercial applicability," said Mr. Takashi Aoki, Group President of Fujitsu's Computer Systems Group. "This TPC-C test shows PRIMEPOWER is now the most powerful transaction processing system available, and adds to its status as the ideal business server, as shown previously by its SAP SD benchmark records."
Fujitsu offers PRIMEPOWER servers across the entire spectrum of data center requirements and delivers the highest-capacity commercial UNIXR servers in the marketplace. PRIMEPOWER servers feature a system bus with crossbar switch technology adapted from Fujitsu's mainframe design, resulting in an extremely high data transfer rate.
