Tokyo, April 25, 2001---
Fujitsu Limited today introduced two new low-cost versions of its existing website security service: "Attack Test Service Express," which performs multi-faceted audits of customers' systems, and "Security Monitoring Service Economy," which performs remote monitoring for illegal system access. These services will be available in early May and early July, respectively.
The new services will be offered as add-ons to Fujitsu's "Security Service" menu of security offerings for the Japanese market, which have been available since September 2000.
Attack Test Service Express, which will be marketed in cooperation with the U.S. firm Qualys, will utilize that company's QualysGuardTM remote monitoring function. With this function, it generally takes one day or less to generate a detection pattern to deal with a newly identified illegal access pattern. Up to 24 audits per year will be available for an annual cost of 300,000 yen (equivalent to 12,500 yen per audit).
Security Monitoring Service Economy is an automated monitoring and notification system providing service comparable to that of the previous version at the low price of 150,000 yen per month.
In recent years, tools for disabling illegal system access protection systems have been evolving on a daily basis, and they are being disseminated over the Internet. Damage from these hacker tools has been growing, regardless of the fame of the target Web site or scale of the corporation behind it. Moreover, companies or local government offices that are unable to maintain a fully staffed information systems department require personalized, highly detailed support in this area.
Fujitsu's economical new services should fill the needs of companies and local government offices that have previously been unable to take sufficient security measures. Furthermore, Fujitsu has teamed with Fujitsu Security Partners Network, an Internet security professional group consisting of about 400 certified technicians at 44 companies throughout Japan to support the security measures of their respective customers.
Fujitsu is currently conducting a Security Monitoring Service Trial Campaign, during which it will monitor illegal access to customers' websites at no charge for two months (available only in Japan, through September 2001).
Features of the New Service:
1. Attack Test Service Express
- - Uses newest security hole detection patterns
- Remote auditing service can quickly detect and handle the newest security holes. The service can remotely audit a site, ordinarily generating a detection pattern within one day of discovering an illegal access pattern.
- - Enables high-frequency, flexible test schedule
- In addition to monthly attack tests, the remote auditing schedule can be flexibly set for 12 additional tests per year, up to a maximum of 24, responding to needs that arise when the system is modified or when a major security hole is discovered.
- - Provides immediate results of audits over the World Wide Web
- Customers can refer to the results of remote auditing at any time on their private secure Web page.
- - No initial construction fees
- Since remote auditing is provided over the Internet, no special equipment is needed, and customers can make use of the service without paying any initial construction fees.
2. Security Monitoring Service Economy
- - Automated monitoring and notification system keeps costs down
- By using an automated monitoring and notification system, "Security Monitoring Service Economy" can provide the same 24-hour, year-round continuous monitoring service and the same high level of quality as the standard version for the low monthly price of only 150,000 yen.
- - Provides immediate information on illegal access over the World Wide Web
- Customers can confirm an illegal access incident at a site being monitored at any time on their private secure Web page.
- - No initial construction fees
- Since Fujitsu provides all the necessary monitoring equipment, software, and monitoring policies, customers can make use of the service without paying any initial construction fees.
