Fujitsu and Japan Radio Co. Establish Company
to Develop Wireless Core Technology
for W-CDMA Terminal Equipment

Tokyo, April 11, 2001 ------ Fujitsu Limited and Japan Radio Co., Ltd. today announced that they have jointly established a new company to develop wireless hardware and software technology for W-CDMA* mobile communications terminal equipment. The new company, called FJ Mobile Core Technologies Co., Ltd., was formally established on April 2 and will begin development work later this month.

Fujitsu and Japan Radio Co. each plan to supply terminal equipment for W-CDMA wireless telecommunications service, which is expected to begin in Japan and other countries in the near future. Capitalizing on the mobile telecommunications and multiplexing technology and know-how they have cultivated over many years, the two companies intend to take advantage of synergies between them to boost efficiency and speed up development of the wireless core at the heart of terminals.
