Fujitsu Steps Up Globalization of
PRIMERGY Server Business

New Global Product Offerings and Enhancements Provide Ideal Solutions for
International Customers in the Internet/e-commerce Sphere

Tokyo, February 1, 2001---Fujitsu Limited announced today a significant advance in the globalization of its PRIMERGY branded IntelR architecture server products. Leveraging its joint product development and sales partnership with Fujitsu Siemens Computers in Europe and the enterprise systems expertise and sales reach of Fujitsu Technology Solutions in North America, Fujitsu is introducing its first set of globally available product offerings, the PRIMERGY H200, N400 and N800 servers. (See separate release for technical and other details.)

The new PRIMERGY servers, which will be available in North America, Europe (EMEA) and the Asia/Pacific region, share an underlying Internet focus designed to meet the needs of international customers and the evolving requirements of e-commerce environments. Not only do they provide optimal solutions for emerging three-tier data center architectures of Application Service Providers and Internet Data Centers, they offer leading-edge server technology that brings cost-effective benefits to corporate workgroups and small/medium business customers. In particular their ultra high reliability makes them ideally suited for business critical applications, including ERP, e-Commerce, always-on databases and Web servers.

"Fujitsu has for some time been delivering high quality PRIMERGY products across a broad spectrum of marketplaces, and we can now boast a truly global product range," said Takashi Aoki, Group President, Computer Systems Group, Fujitsu Limited. "Fujitsu's expertise is not limited to engineers in just one country, and these new servers reflect how we are maximizing our regional knowledge and skills to produce world-class products well suited to a global market."

Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Siemens Computers combined forces to develop these new servers, and marketing and product features have been input into the design process by all of Fujitsu's regional and channel marketing groups. The result is a set of servers that will grow in line with international customer requirements and developments in Internet-based commerce and data centers.

"In addition to standardized certification work and other market prerequisites, our new combined approach means more than just gaining economies of scale," remarked Mr. Aoki. "The strength of Fujitsu's global engineering presence means we can now take account of market leading developments wherever they first take hold. Whether it's North America, Japan or Europe that leads with a particular technology, we have the ability to adopt it quickly and deploy it globally."

Importantly for existing customers of PRIMERGY products, the current range of regionally developed servers will continue to be upgraded and enhanced until next-generation global models are introduced as natural successor products. Fujitsu expects this phase of the globalization process to be completed by the end of 2001.
