Tokyo, February 1, 2001---Fujitsu Limited announced today several upgrades and enhancements to existing models of its PRIMERGY brand Intel® architecture servers as part of the globalization of its PRIMERGY business. The enhancements occur across the range and cover processor frequency, RAID card options, standard memory size and standard disk options. Separately, the company announced three new PRIMERGY servers for the global marketplace (See: Fujitsu's New Globally Available PRIMERGY Servers Are Optimized for e-commerce).
Fujitsu has significantly increased the options on its entry-level thin servers. These are aimed at tier 1 processes in the data center. For the cost-conscious ISP looking for ample memory but no disks, PRIMERGY TS120 can now be purchased totally diskless. In addition, the maximum memory size has been increased to 4GB. Now, using Fujitsu's no cost remote management system, even the CD-ROM can be dispensed with. For growing dedicated service providers, these same servers can be delivered or upgraded with either IDE or SCSI disk drives. Plus power users now get options for 10,000rpm hot plug drives in 9, 18, 36GB sizes and 1GHz Intel® Pentium® III processors. Memory size has also been increased for the more powerful PRIMERGY TS220 thin servers, along with new 1GHz processors and 10,000rpm SCSI disk options.

In another significant improvement, the multi-purpose 2-way PRIMERGY ES320, along with other existing PRIMERGY models, will now use the same improved RAID cards offered with the newly announced PRIMERGY H200, N400 and N800 servers for the global marketplace. This ensures product standardization and increases customer benefits, as the new RAID cards offer better serviceability and improved price/performance over previous cards.
Finally the large multi-purpose 4-way PRIMERGY MS610 has had its base memory increased from 256MB to 512MB. This better matches its increasing use as a dedicated large application server.
