Fujitsu to Showcase New PRIMERGY "All-in-One-Rack" Solutions

- New Systems a boon to ISP/ASP's
- Branch office local data centers possible

Tokyo, October 4, 2000 - Fujitsu Limited today announced that it would provide a sneak preview of its new range of space-optimized data center servers at Intel's eXCHANGE exhibition in San Francisco starting October 11th. Under its "All-in-One-Rack" banner at the exhibition's Solutions Showcase, Fujitsu will show how the latest IntelR PentiumR III processor-based servers can maximize ISP/ASP revenue per square foot, replace propriety switch technology, integrate Voice over IP and support mobile phone-based anytime-anywhere Internet computing.

The underlying platform technology on display will be the new PRIMERGY TS120 and PRIMERGY TS220, "thin" servers. These one and two processor systems are only 1U high and can be mass racked for both maximum floor-space savings and maximum client access. In combining higher performance processors, bus and disk technology and adding easy to deploy features, including remote install, reboot and management services, Fujitsu has created appliance servers that outperform those of its competitors.

By use of different rack enclosures they can also be used in data center and office environments providing tier one processing tasks for ISP/ASPs, "all-in-one rack" solutions for customer contact centers plus lower cost switch and Voice over IP solutions for mid-sized companies and branch office locations.

The flexibility and configuration options available with these new PRIMERGY servers allows ISP/ASP's to provide discrete hosting services to a wide range of customers, both large and small, and provides them with the ability to offer the same service level guarantees.

"Delivering discrete Internet services with similar levels of service and cost profiles to both small and large organizations has been impossible up to now," said Mr. Tatsushi Miyazawa, senior vice president and group president Computer Systems Group, Fujitsu Limited. "But with these new very compact servers, such service flexibility can be built into every rack in the data center."

The TS120 server has been specially configured for Service providers. It allows them to offer small organizations affordable dedicated hosting services, develop switching solutions and other dedicated appliance tasks. The TS220 with up to two processors not only meets the power and growth needs of larger customers, it can be used in redundant clusters for highest possible availability and as a space saving and reliable single application server for departmental and branch office use. This combination of thin server options and Fujitsu's "all-in-one rack" solutions mean small organizations and branch offices can build their own local "data center" in a single floor-space saving rack.

Further technical details will be announced shortly. The new products will be marketed by Amdahl in North America and Fujitsu in Asia/Pacific. General delivery is expected to commence in November.
