Tokyo, September 5, 2000 --- Fujitsu Limited announced today that it
has concluded an agreement to acquire Nissan Digital Process Ltd.
(DIPRO), a subsidiary of Nissan Motor Company Ltd., through the
purchase all outstanding shares of DIPRO stock. Transfer of the
stock to Fujitsu is scheduled to take place on September 26, 2000.
Established in 1987, DIPRO is a system engineering company that
designs, develops and services software products for manufacturing
industry focusing on automotive area. The company's comprehensive
range of distinctive services, which combine manufacturing and IT
technologies, provides support for every stage of automobile
production, from concept through operational applications. In
joining together and exploiting synergies with Fujitsu, which
possesses exceptional technological strengths in systems development,
it will be able to take advantage of the most advanced technology to
strengthen its systems development capabilities and solidify its
management base.
In response to the expansion of IT investment by automotive and other
manufacturing industries, Fujitsu has been strengthening its cadre of
systems engineers with specialized technical knowledge of design,
development and manufacturing. Fujitsu plans to position DIPRO, which
has high-level engineering skills, as a new wholly owned subsidiary
that will serve as the Fujitsu Group's core base for auto industry-
related systems development business and to broadly expand its
operations beyond Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to include systems
integration and consulting.
