Savvion, Inc.

Fujitsu and Savvion Partner to Build Smarter e-Business Solutions

The Two Companies Will Integrate SymfoWARE and BusinessManager Products

TOKYO/SANTA CLARA, CA, August 10, 2000 - Fujitsu Limited and Savvion, Inc. announced today that they have agreed to jointly develop and offer smarter e-Business solutions by integrating Fujitsu's SymfoWARER family of Business Intelligence tools and Savvion's BusinessManagera Business Process Management System. Under this agreement, the two companies will develop, market and deliver a range of products and solutions that complement the strengths of each other's product lines. The resulting product integration will provide sophisticated analytical capabilities to business professionals for reviewing information generated during the entire extended enterprise business process. In applications such as extended B2B procurement, an analyst will be able to review the entire transaction flow from customer to vendor, including the activities of the individuals and applications involved in the process.

Savvion BusinessManager transforms conventional business processes into managed e-business applications. With BusinessManager, applications, involving both people and existing computer applications, are developed using a powerful, easy-to-use GUI, and then deployed over intranets and extranets. The extended enterprise of customers, partners, suppliers and employees then access these business process applications through a web portal using either conventional PC browsers or wireless devices such as Personal Digital Assistants or Web-enabled cell phones. Managers in turn monitor and analyze the automated processes through a similar portal, giving them complete visibility and control over their entire e-business operations. Managers can also use BusinessManager to modify processes dynamically as business conditions change.

Fujitsu's SymfoWARE family of business intelligence tools enables business managers to take full advantage of the most advanced data mining and validation technologies, without having to become or rely on IT experts. For example, SymfoWARE Navigator allows a business user to extract, slice and dice important business information directly from a corporate data store using commonly used business terms as key words. SymfoWARE VisualMiner can then visualize the result of a database query by SymfoWARE Navigator on the powerful parallel coordinates display, enabling users to discover hidden nuggets in a completely seamless manner.

Combining these powerful technologies, the Fujitsu-Savvion collaboration will benefit customers not only by providing them with solutions for implementing their e-Business strategy almost in an "out-of-the-box" fashion, but by empowering them with state-of-the-art analytics and data mining technology for improving customer relationship and supply chain management.

"With the rapid pace of change in the e-business arena today, managers need the tools to monitor and analyze their operations in near real time," said Dr. Mohammad Ketabchi, Savvion founder and CEO. "The combination of BusinessManager and SymfoWARE provides a very powerful system allowing for the analysis of a broad variety of e-Business transactions and events that would otherwise not be possible without extensive data capture and manipulation".

"We are positioning our SymfoWARE family of business intelligence tools as core strategic Internet solution offerings for business users," said Hidetoshi Nagata, general manager of the Data Server Software Division of Fujitsu's Software Group. "With this collaboration, we will work closely with Savvion to utilize its excellent technology and flagship BusinessManager product in developing the very best Internet products and solutions".
