Tokyo, January 25, 1999 -- Fujitsu Limited has signed an agreement with Nanjing University to establish a joint venture software development company to be called Nanjing Fujitsu Nanda Software Technology Co. Ltd. Fujitsu Establishes Software Development Joint Venture in Nanjing, China
Jiangsu Province, particularly the Nanjing area, has been active in nurturing the growth of the local software industry. Since 1995 Fujitsu and Nanjing University have cooperated in the development of firmware and other software. Now, following a year-long feasibility study conducted with the University, the relationship moves to a new stage with the signing of the agreement to establish Nanjing Fujitsu Nanda Software Technology Co. Ltd. as a Fujitsu majority-owned joint venture company.
Fujitsu's first software development base in Jiangsu Province, the new company will be established this February and become operational in April. Taking advantage of the Nanjing's area's talented local workforce, the company is expected to become one of Fujitsu's leading software development bases in China, concentrating initially on development of software for Fujitsu's products but gradually expanding to include products for the broader Chinese software market as it matures. Through this and future ventures, Fujitsu will continue to play a major role in the rapid development of China's software industry.
Fujitsu currently has liaison offices in eight cities in China and operates 15 subsidiaries in the country, including production and R&D facilities for telecommunications, computers and electronic devices.
