Fujitsu To Supply Digital Microwave Radio Equipment to Rostelecom in Russia
- 5GHz system to span 400km link between capitals of Samara and Orenburg -
Moscow, March 11, 1998- Fujitsu Limited today announced that Fujitsu will supply its digital microwave equipment for Rostelecom, the largest long-distance and international telecommunication carrier in Russia. Rostelecom plans to use the Fujitsu equipment to build a digital radio relay link between Samara region and Orenburg region in Russia. Rostelecom and Fujitsu signed the contract for this project at a signing ceremony held today in Moscow.
According to the plan of this project, Samara city and Orenburg city- the capitals of each region- will be connected by 5GHz digital microwave radio relay link. The cities are located west of Ural mountains, 1,000km east from Moscow. The total length of this link will be about 400km. On the link there will be 9 radio stations. Fujitsu will supply its digital microwave radio equipment called the "FRX" series and its Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) digital optical transmission equipment, the "FLX" series. Rostelecom will start its operation from December, 1998.
Overview of this project
In June, 1997 Fujitsu supplied its digital exchange FETEX-150 for the switching stations in Orenburg region. Rostelecom appreciated the high reliability and technical support of Fujitsu's equipment. Fujitsu plans to continue to expand its telecommunications business in Russia.
