Release of Policy-based Enterprise system management software, SystemWalker based on new concept of PSM (Policy-based System Management)

Tokyo, June 23, 1998 --- Fujitsu Limited today announces SysetmWalker which is a successor of proven integrated system & network management software : MpWalker, and the enhancements of the product lineup to meet with the new business demand in Enterprise system environment from June 23, 1998 in Japan and from the middle of September, 1998 for overseas.

As a new computing paradigm, Network computing system has taken the place of Client/Server and is growing its size by tightly cooperating with internet environment. Also by new requirements for multimedia data handling such as photo, sound or animation, the number of data type and the amount of data have also been increasing dramatically. This caused new challenges to manage whole IT environment easily and effectively. For such requirements, SystemWalker provides new solution concept, PCM (Policy-based System Management) and solves customers' demands in system management.

Fujitsu has sold 25,800 server licenses to 3,550 companies of MpWalker in Japan since December 1995 and taken No.1 market share. We renew the product lineup as SystemWalker and provides a new concept to entry the global market competition. SystemWalker enables to manage heterogeneous system environment by the standard framework of SystemWalker. As a small system solution, Workgroup edition enables to install SystemWalker easily and reduce the time for setting up (12 min. for the installation to PC server with Pentium 200MHz)
As strategic collaborations, we developed the relation with CISCO's products like Cisco Works for Switched Internetworks(CWSI) and Cisco Resource Manager(CRM) and Intel's WfM.: Wired for Management, NetScout Systems's NetScout Manager Plus. We also have a plan to enhance integration functions with industrial standard products like Oracle, Microsoft's WBEM: Web Based Enterprise Management or Lotus's Notes.

Wired for Management solution of Intel targets to improve the system maintenance environment, take a quick action to the business environment change and reduce the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). Enables to arrange and show the independent management view of hardwares and softwares distributed on the network on the SystemWalker/CentricMGR's managing display. Also enables easy code less application developing, with only defining SNMP's MIB information which hardware and software has, on the certain image picture over a graphical builder.

SytemWalker/OperationMGR
Enables to schedule from turning on the server, activating the service, job scheduling, stopping the service, and to turning off the power. It can schedule the standard jobs such as daily jobs, and monthly jobs as a Job net on the visual display.

SystemWalker/PerfMGR
With the agent function, it collects the computer's performance information and center controls with the manager function. The data stored and processed can be reported with the exclusive report function which enables high quality data analyzing/proceeding function.

SystemWalker/PrintMGR
This print base system enables high reliable basic job printing. It totally controls plural server's spools and printers such as printing recovery, savin/reloading of printing data on one display.

SystemWalker/ListWORKS
Enables retrieving alphabets and numbers, displaying only the required information and delivering the data to the word processors/ sheet calculating software the data form out putted from global server by double displaying with the overlay pattern on the PC display.
