Tokyo, February 5, 1998 -- Fujitsu Limited today expanded the line-up of its business-oriented FMV series of desktop computers. The company has introduced five new models in this line, including a space-saving computer and a mid-range tower model.

The space-saving FMV-5200CL features performance and reliability equal to that of a regular desktop computer, but its set-up space and weight are only 1/3 of the space and weight characteristics of a mid-range tower model. Needless to say, these features allow users to make the most efficient use of their desktop space.

The model boasts a 200MHz Pentium MMX processor, 32MB of memory (ECC, SDRAM), 512 KB of cache memory, a 2.1 GB hard disk, a high-speed graphic accelerator (for 3D, on board), and a LAN I/F (for Wakeup on LAN, on board). Yet for all its features, the computer is being made available for a surprisingly modest price of only 218 thousand yen.

This is not all. Fujitsu has enhanced the CPUs of both the mid-range tower model -- the FMV-6333T7 - and its other desktop models with the latest 333 MHz Pentium II processor announced by Intel on January 27. Besides the space-saving model and mid-range tower model, three new machines in this line are being offered: the FMV-6300D9, the 5233D9M, and the 5200D9K, respectively.

Fujitsu has also slashed up to 15% off the prices of five of its current models, further improving the price performance ratio of the series as a whole.

With the introduction of the new models, Fujitsu's full line-up of business-oriented desktop computers now comprises a total of 11 model types and 275 models. Since November of last year, the company has been offering limited custom-made shipping on some of these models. This option has not, however, been expanded to the full line yet.
