London, February 26, 1997 - Fujitsu ICL Computers Ltd announces professional PCs with the new CD-ReWritable drive technology. Fujitsu ICL Computers supports the new multi-functional rewritable CD-ROM drive technology and plans to provide the CD-ReWritable devices across its professional ErgoPro PC range marketed in Europe.

With the new CD-ReWritable drives, ease-of-use is brought to CD medium as the users can access and write to the discs in the same way they access their hard disks. In addition to writing, users can also easily back-up up to 1.3 GBytes of their hard disk data to a single CD-RW disc. The new drives which will be offered pre-installed in Fujitsu ErgoPro PCs function also as CD-ROM readers and CD-Recorders depending on the medium used and support multiple data formats like CD-R, CD-ROM, CD-Audio, CD-I and Video-CD.
