Fujitsu Launches New PRIMERGY IA Servers Based on Its TRIOLE
Platform Concept

PRIMERGY BX300 Tokyo, May 28, 2002 -- Fujitsu Limited today announced its new line of PRIMERGY Intel® Architecture (IA) servers based on the company's TRIOLE platform concept*1. Eleven new models are being launched today for the Japanese market.

Conventional computer systems have been built around servers, but recently, there has been a rapid shift towards network-centric architectures. In addition, data sharing between multiple companies or departments has grown in importance, expanding the network platform. In such environment, the market demands highly reliable platforms including networks that allow fast and flexible scalability as well as the ability to handle data surges and load fluctuations without downtime.

To meet these needs, Fujitsu introduced blade server*2 PRIMERGY BX300, PRIMERGY H450/R450/F250/P250 models that run on Intel's XeonTM processor MP or XeonTM processor and six other models equipped with upgraded processors.

PRIMERGY BX300 is the ideal server for Internet Service Providers (ISP) and Internet Data Centers, which can be used as webfronts and hosting servers. It is also suitable for integrating distributed and expanded mail servers or for small- to mid-sized core administrative servers. PRIMERGY BX300 can also be configured in a High Performance Linux Cluster system to perform scientific computing. NIFTY Corporation, Japan's largest ISP, is currently evaluating the model in its data center prior to deployment as part of its plan to cut its TCO.

Fujitsu's PRIMERGY H450/R450/F250/P250 models run on Intel's XeonTM processor MP or XeonTM processor, designed specifically for servers. The high-end PRIMERGY H450 and PRIMERGY R450 come with ample processing power to work as servers handling the gamut of e-business applications, including customer relationship management, media serving, mid-sized database management and supply-chain management.

Fujitsu will continue enhancing the PRIMERGY line of IA servers to make it easier to scale up and scale out systems, offering servers for mission-critical infrastructure that require maximum performance and availability.
