Fujitsu Introduces New Entry-level and
Clustering 2-way PRIMERGY Servers
-- Also introducing a new 14-bay fiber channel storage subsystem --
Tokyo, February 6, 2002 -- Fujitsu Limited today unveiled two new
2-way Intel® Architecture (IA)-based servers, PRIMERGY F200
and PRIMERGY C200, in its global range of PRIMERGY servers. At the
same time, the company introduced the PRIMERGY S60, a flexible
(rack-mount and pedestal) external fiber channel storage subsystem
for building rack-optimized cluster systems and server-attached
storage extensions. The three new models go on sale today.
The new PRIMERGY C200 and PRIMERGY F200 IA servers are designed to
meet the needs of customers who are looking for cost-effective
systems with high reliability and Intel® Pentium® III processing
power. The new PRIMERGY S60 storage subsystem offers excellent
bandwidth access and the highest level of additional storage
capacity in a minimum of space. When used in combination with
PRIMERGY F200, the system provides all the high availability
features required for building mission critical solutions.
Today's enterprise network infrastructures in the information age
require greater granulation in the configuration of servers than
ever before. The launch of the new servers shows Fujitsu's on-going
commitment to delivering a wide range of general-purpose
configurations in addition to the rack-optimized models suited to
mission critical Business Server.
[PRIMERGY F200]
F200 provides excellent all-round performance and is the entry-level
server of choice among users who demand data integrity, scalability,
availability and the very highest performance in a compact, floor-
stand or rack-mount server. The standard ServerView management
system automates maintenance processes in remote locations without
the need for on-site staff. In addition, the remote warning system
can detect potential problems before they become serious. Other
features of this 2-way server include ease of expandability,
hot-plug hard disks, redundant fans and power supplies, and
fail-over LAN technology, all of which support secure cluster
operations.
* F200 technical details *
Choice of up to two 1.26 or 1.13GHz processors, 256MB (maximum 4GB)
of memory, up to six 73GB hard disks (choice of either single or dual
channel drive cage), and 6 PCI slots. Available as either pedestal
or 4U rack-mountable unit.
[PRIMERGY C200]
Slightly smaller in size than the F200, but with most of its
features, the new C200 is a very affordable entry solution in the
PRIMERGY all-purpose 2-way server class. C200 offers a high degree
of operational reliability when running critical applications with
hot plug and RAID configuration thereby making it an excellent server
for Business.
* C200 technical details *
Choice of up to two 1.26 or 1BGHz processors, 256MB (maximum 4GB) of
memory, up to four 73GB hard disks and 6 PCI slots. Available in
either pedestal or 5U rack format.
[PRIMERGY S60]
This external fiber channel disk system can be used together with
all PRIMERGY servers as storage subsystems, cluster storage and
highly available RAID configurations. S60 can support up to 14
hard disks in either a 3U-high rack module or in-office pedestal unit.
Its multi-channel high bandwidth connectivity makes it the ideal
solution in cluster server configurations. Managed by the same
comprehensive ServerView management software found in all PRIMERGY
products, it also supports Fujitsu's Remote Service Board for
out-of-band remote management.
* S60 technical details *
14 hot-plug disk bays, up to 4 fiber channel connections, redundant
power supplies (option) and fans.
