Exodus Announces Premium Care Extensive Onsite Hardware and Operating System Support

- Relationship with Amdahl Provides Field-Service Engineering Services -

TOKYO, Japan - May 15, 2001 --- Exodus Communication®, Inc., the leader in complex Internet hosting and managed services (NASDAQ:EXDS), and Amdahl Corporation, Fujitsu Limited's US-based enterprise computing solutions subsidiary, have announced the availability of Premium CareTM Service, which provides around-the-clock, onsite hardware maintenance and operating software support as well as a single point of contact for management and maintenance of hardware assets. As part of managed service offerings from Exodus®, Premium Care Service ensures customers' critical hardware systems are repaired or replaced with minimal effect on their enterprises and customer satisfaction.

Premium Care Service provides Exodus customers with telephone and Web-based, single-point of contact, multi-vendor customer support, onsite certified engineers, dedicated service delivery managers, onsite spare availability, multi-vendor problem diagnosis and repair, and formal escalation procedures. Exodus and Amdahl, in conjunction with Fujitsu's global InfraCareTM services capability, will provide field-engineering services in Exodus Internet Data Centers (IDCs) around the world.

According to industry analyst firm, the Gartner Inc., the average remote resolution rate for a data center is 44%, with an average on-site response time of 4.3 hours*. Additional findings indicate that most service level agreements provide no promise of problem resolution. Exodus' Premium Care Service provides for a 30-minute response time and four-hour return to service.

"e-Businesses know that downtime equates to loss of potential customers. Our customers demand services that allow them to maximize performance while simplifying their involvement and investment in IT resources," said Ellen M. Hancock, chairman and CEO of Exodus. "Exodus Premium Care is a unique service which provides customers with a single point of contact and a single maintenance contract for multi-vendor systems maintenance and management. Premium Care provides a total support solution offering maximum availability and efficiency for the customer."

"As the leading provider of complex Web hosting and managed services, Exodus understands the value of reliable, responsive, enterprise mission-critical support for its customers," said Larry Fillmer, President of Amdahl's IT Services Division. "Amdahl has been providing high quality availability field services to multi-vendor data centers for more than 30 years and we are pleased to provide Fujitsu's InfraCare global services to Exodus. Through Premium Care Service, Exodus is providing its customers with the most comprehensive and efficient service available."

Premium Care Service provides improved availability with reduced complexity and single point access, allowing customers to maintain hardware and operating systems uptime with minimal effort, Exodus also provides online access to inventory data, service history and trouble ticket status via its myExodus? Web portal.

Premium Care Service is now available at all Exodus North American IDC's. Premium Care will be available in Europe beginning in August 2001 and Asia Pacific beginning in November 2001.
